National Science day was celebrated at RRCAT on 28^th February 2009. A large number of schools of Indore and neighboring places had been invited to visit various laboratories of RRCAT. The total number of visitors from these schools including students and accompanying teachers was 1314. The day’s programme started with the visitors assembling in the main auditorium of the Central Complex for Director’s address. Dr. P.D. Gupta, Officiating Director began his address by describing the significance of National Science Day. He described the scientific activities being pursued at RRCAT and also the avenues open in the country for acquiring higher education in basic sciences after senior school stage. His address was concluded with quotations of Dr. Bhabha and Prof. Feynman, for motivating the young students towards pursuit of basic sciences. After Director’s address, students were taken in groups for a guided tour covering large number of interesting scientific exhibits, models and demonstrations in various laboratories of RRCAT. Morning snacks and afternoon lunch was served to the visitors from the schools. In the afternoon, from 03.00 PM onwards, it was the turn of the family members of RRCAT employees to visit the exhibits. By the end of the day a large number of young minds had been exposed to science.
