Laser Biomedical Applications Division |
The focus of Laser Biomedical Applications Division (LBAD) is research and development in the area of biophotonics aiming to create novel optical technologies for advancing diagnoses and treatments of disease and dysfunction. Active research areas include utilization of laser/light based techniques for the development of point-of-care medical devices for improved healthcare, development and evaluation of novel Raman spectroscopic techniques for biomedical applications, exploration of nano-biophotonics for biomedical diagnosis and imaging, and use of light for therapy. The interdisciplinary nature of biomedical photonics research at LBAD combines expertise from physics, chemistry, biology and engineering to address various clinical challenges. Our goal is to leverage fundamental understanding of optical phenomena and novel photonics tools in order to contribute towards improving healthcare.
