Each TL-1 power supply is connected to a Digital Signal Processor based Power Supply Control Modules (PSCM) housed near the power supply. Several PSCMs are connected over a common serial link, RS485 and communicate to a master server using a custom protocol. The server module runs on a machine connected to the accelerator control network. The operator console is also on the accelerator network.
In addition to the basic supervisory control functions, special functions like slow set, cycling of power supplies current and soft ON/OFF switching etc. are also provided by the system. PSCMs also support synchronous reading of power supplies currents following an external event or clock. Separate layer of differential clock driver and receivers serves synchronization clock signal to each PSCM for this.
