Radiation Monitoring Control System |
Indus-1 Radiation Monitoring Control System (RMCS) interfaces Radiation Monitors (RMs) in Indus-1 premises to remotely display the Electromagnetic radiation level, measured by the RMs. RMCS only provides signal monitoring facility of RMs and no control interface as per requirement. It displays analog radiation level & others digital signals of radiation monitors. The contacts of manually preset alarm level from some of the RMs may be used in the respective interlock system.
Architecture
New RMCS is two layered architecture using VME Equipment controller at the equipment interface layer (L2) and SCADA based operator console on PC in the control room as user interface layer (L1). These layers are linked using 100 Mbps Ethernet on TCP/IP. L1 runs the Application Program Interface (API) and Graphical Users Interface (GUI) program under SCADA. L2 programs run in VME CPU on RTOS. The Equipment Control Station (ECS) (figure 1) comprises VME CPU & analog/ digital Input signal handling VME cards along with field signal interfacing electronics. L1 & L2 software commponents follow the client server model using a Command-Response protocol.
Implementation
New RMCS can accommodate 30 RMs. Each RM has 4 digital status & one analog signal. Radiation monitors from different areas like Microtron, Booster, Transfer Line 2, Indus-1, TL3 and Indus-1 Experimental Hall are connected to RMCS.
