Beam Line Front End (BLFE) Control System |
Indus-2 Beam Line Front Ends (BLFE) control system helps to protect the machine vacuum from beam line side vacuum failures and vice versa. This allows a well co-ordinated and safe usage of machine by beamline users. The system has to control vacuum gate valves, safety shutters in presence of a local control system at front end. The gate valves are automatically closed by the corresponding valve controllers when the vacuum degrades on the either side of the front end. Beam injection request and giving permissions for valves and safety shutters is password protected so that only authorized operator may operate. The control system also facilitates logging of beam usage and experiment related information for the management of Indus-2 beam utilization.
Various diagnostic signals that may affect BLFE or BL operation are integrated and displayed on the panel for easier operation and debugging. Some of the signals are BLFE VME L3 station statuses, ID jaw statuses, FE OK interlock status and Indus-2 machine states.
