Power Converters Developed by HVSS

2.5 MeV High Power Industrial Accelerator (HPIA)

A Russian generating voltmeter (GVM) based contactless measurement system was developed to measure the DC high voltage. The GVM rpm was kept at 1000 and measurements were done upto 400 kV. The GVM was parameterized for measurements at various distances and angles. A one MV high voltage resistive divider was developed and used to measure the multiplier stack voltage upto one Mega Volts.

An infrared based transmitter and receiver system for the Injector Control Unit has been developed which remotely controls and monitors the filament current of the DC Accelerator with required galvanic isolation. It uses frequency to voltage and voltage to frequency converters for remote communication of analog signals. An HV monitoring & protection unit was developed to test the HV generator upto 1 MV.
